For the ultimate tranquil hideaway, visit the Little Good Harbour in the fishing village of Shermans, with luxury guest cottages clustered around tropical gardens and two sprawling swimming pools.

There are a few rum shops within strolling distance but if you want to visit any malls or attractions, you'll need to hire a car to explore.

This isn't the resort to stay in if you want to go partying every night until dawn, but it will provide you with a sublime place to stay if you're looking for a holiday to leave you feeling relaxed, renewed and invigorated.

The Crane

It would be impossible to provide a list of Barbados resorts without referring to The Crane, the first resort hotel in the Caribbean.

Originally opened in 1887, The Crane is a top class, luxurious resort with rooftop terraces, tropical gardens and private pools amongst its facilities.

Romantic and secluded, the venue provides everything you could possibly want set alongside the acclaimed Crane Beach which provides soft, pink-tinged sands and waters which are safe to swim in.
